The princess, lying on her back, stared into the stars' twinkling depths.  She closed her eyes, dew forming on her lashes.  She ran her hand through her curly auburn hair, smoothing it out for the knight. That hadn't come. She placed her hands on the blood-red fabric of her dress.  Her stomach hurt, she hadn't eaten much in the past few weeks.  She chewed on some of the soft grass that surrounded her.  Not a very princessy thing to do, but when your father sends you off to feed the dragon that terrorized his kingdom, what could you do?
